Received a questionable email? Check if it's phishing / spam!

Welcome to my CheckForPhishing tool. For years Phishing has been the greatest threat for companies and individuals. From an attacker's point of view it's easy and effective and for an individual user it's hard to detect. Many companies and individuals have lost a lot of money due to (spear) phishing activities.

This must stop!

I created the CheckForPhishing tool to give companies and individuals more insight and knowledge about "vague" or "quesionable" emails they receive. This tools helps to identify if the email is legit or phishing / spam.

Do you have usage questions, or questions about the CheckForPhishing tool. Please see the usage instructions and FAQ below the form.

I hope to improve these tool(s) over time and I can use your help doing so. Are you able to develop a useful feature or willing to help in some other way, please contact me. Together we can make the world a little bit safer.

Usage Instruction

Need instructions? No problem! Here we will tell you what information is needed and how to get it. Sadly we are unable to tell you in detail how to get the desired information for every e-mail application that is available. We'll do our best to cover most details. There are 2 ways the Phishing Checker Tool can do it's job correctly.
  • The most easy way is to feed the checker with an *.MSG file. An MSG file is an email message, contact, appointment, or task created or saved within Microsoft Outlook. It may contain one or more email fields, which includes the date, sender, recipient, subject, and message body, or contact information, appointment details, and one or more task descriptions. MSG files may also store one or more email attachments, which are files sent with the message. An MSG is a file containing all information about the e-mail. MSG files are only supported by Microsoft Outlook. If you are not using Microsoft Outlook then you need to insert the information manually.

Getting the *.MSG file is easy. Just drag and drop an e-mail from Microsoft Outlook to an empty folder or the desktop. The *.MSG file is created and can be used to feed the Phishing Checker by dragging and dropping the file in the appropriate field or by uploading the file. Please view below video for more details.

  • When you are unable to generate an *.MSG file you can copy- and paste the header content and the body to the e-mail checker.
These instructions will give you tips on how to get the *.MSG file or the headers for manual submission. The body is simply the content you'll see in your e-mail application. Just copy and paste this content in the "body" field of the Phishing Checker Tool when u use the manual function.
